Afia Schwarzenegger Slams Yvonne Nelson for Exposing Family Issues in Memoir

Afia Schwarzenegger has raised a question about whether Yvonne Nelson’s frustrations, as expressed in her memoir ‘I am not Yvonne Nelson,’ might have been influenced by the fact that Mr. Peter Ala Adjetey, a respected man, was not her father. Afia speculates that Yvonne may have been disappointed that her supposed father was not someone of notable stature like the former Speaker of Parliament.

She further ponders if Yvonne would have made this matter public if her alleged father had been a notorious criminal such as Ataa Ayi, rather than a former Speaker. Afia expressed her concerns about Yvonne’s decision to publicize a book that reveals her confusion about her father’s real identity, a situation that has subjected Yvonne’s mother to ridicule and insults.

Afia believes it is unfair for Yvonne to call out a man who ultimately turned out not to be her biological father and suggests that she should have handled the matter differently. Afia references the biblical commandment for children to respect their parents, regardless of the circumstances, and criticizes Yvonne for disrespecting her mother by writing a book to air their private matters publicly.

She questions why Yvonne didn’t handle the situation privately, within her family or with the guidance of a pastor or counselor. Afia warns Yvonne that those applauding her actions now may later use them to taunt her daughter about her grandmother’s identity. She concludes by expressing her hope that Yvonne will have the strength to face her daughter’s questions about the book in the future.
