Reggae Artist Empress Simone Brings Music and Hope to Ghana
Renowned European reggae artist Empress Miriam Simone is eagerly preparing for her first visit to Ghana, a milestone in her career dedicated to promoting her music and advocating for the empowerment of black women and needy children.
With deep ancestral ties linking Amsterdam and Suriname to Ghana, Empress Simone feels a profound connection to the motherland and sees this trip as a chance to honor her heritage and strengthen unity within the global African community.
Hailing from Amsterdam and Suriname, Miriam Simone is celebrated as one of Europe’s top female reggae artists. Her musical journey began at the tender age of four, deeply influenced by Gospel, Soul, and Reggae music. By thirteen, she was performing with bands and church choirs in Amsterdam, refining her vocal skills and nurturing her passion for music.
Simone’s illustrious career includes sharing stages with prominent reggae artists such as Sizzla, Chronixx, Jah 9, Tarrus Riley, and I-Octane at major events like Capleton’s show St. Mary We Come From, Trenchtown Rock, and Tarrus Riley & Friends. She has collaborated with artists like Jamelody and Fyakin and has unreleased tracks with Sizzla and Capleton, showcasing her versatility and talent in the reggae genre. Her single “Disappointed” won the What’s the Verdict award for the best online international song of 2012 on Roots FM (Jamaica).
Empress Simone’s homecoming concert, hosted by DJ Gashie of Golden Fingers Sound System, will take place at Nima-Ashaiman Station on July 27, 2024. This event will provide a platform for meaningful interactions with fans and the local community. Her latest single, “STOP THE SHOOTING,” produced by Paul Scott of Sound System Club LTD, is a powerful message against war and violence, highlighting her dedication to peace and unity through her music.
