Laarmo, born on April 16, 2003, discovered his love for music around 2010, heavily influenced by artists like Eminem and Sarkodie.
Initially, he pursued rap, often writing lyrics and freestyling to beats he downloaded online, sharing his work with schoolmates and friends. His first significant step into music came in 2017 when he recorded his debut rap demo at a studio, which he frequently performed for his peers.
However, Laarmo’s artistic direction shifted in 2019 after hearing Rema’s “Dumebi,” inspiring him to transition from rap to Afrobeats. His career in the genre has since been shaped by influences from Rema and a producer named DB (formerly known as pizolebeats). During the COVID-19 lockdown, Laarmo connected with Kobla Jnr, who became a mentor, refining his skills and helping him record extensively.
Over time, Laarmo earned recognition and support from notable artists such as OV, J.Derobie, Gasmilla, Larruso, Reggie Rockstone, Yaa Pono, Spacely, and Boj from Nigeria. Today, Laarmo is emerging as one of Ghana’s fastest-rising Afrobeats artists, representing Africa and contributing to the global spread of the genre.
