The US embassy in Ghana has closed today, February 20 to mark the celebration of President’s Day

The embassy posted on its Instagram handle announcing the closure of its office in Ghana’s capital Accra in celebration of President’s Day.

Presidents’ Day, is the celebration of the birthday of America’s founding father George Washington.

In the United States of America, Washington’s birthday is a holiday celebrated at the third Monday of February in honour of all Presidents of the United States.

George Washington, first American President led the continental army to victory in the American Revolutionary War, in 1787.

Sectors of the US Economy That are Either Closed or Operating Due to President’s Day Celebration.

Most retail shops remain opened to customers who may go shopping to celebrate the day. Corporate offices and government agencies however remain closed.

With the US Federal Reserve system, banks will be closed with the exception of TD Bank, online banking and ATM machines at some banks which will be operating.

The New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ is reportedly closed as well.

The mailing industry in the United States are not left out as USPS remains halted with its delivery of business and residential mail.

UPS and FedEx on the other hand including Ground and FedEx Home are reportedly operating.

Like events have compelled the The US embassy in Ghana to follow suit by closing its office in the capital Accra in honour and celebration of US President’s day.
